Sporting Clubs such as ours have a significant influence and can play a major role in encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle. In recognition of this Melton Centrals Cricket Club have elected to participate in the Good Sports Accreditation Program.
The program run by the Australian Drug Foundation in partnership with VicHealth has been designed to assist clubs with the responsible management of alcohol and is the first statewide alcohol accreditation program of its kind.
Our committee believe that involvement in this program is an important step towards recognising the responsibility that our club has to its members, their families and the community. To become Goods Sports accredited, we have adressed a number of criteria, such as having properly trained bar staff.
Melton Centrals Cricket Club has attained a Level Three Good Sports accreditation, which is the highest of any Club in the region. We were the first Club in the area to achieve that status. We are also a member of the Melton Sporting Clubs Liquor Licensing Accord and all of our members who serve refreshments are qualified under the Responsible Serving of Alcohol program. Additionally, our members have been trained in the Looking After Our Mates program run by the Australian Drug Foundation.
